Ruth Payne Brown, President/Bluefield State College Alumni Association, Inc., noted this action fulfills all the commitments pledged for this two-year period. Other significant accomplishments during this period include:
(2) the appointment of a Director of Alumni Affairs, and;
(3) the formation of a new BSCAA chapter, the Greater Kanawha Valley chapter, Charleston, WV.
Selected as Vice President of Student Affairs is Mrs. Juanita Loundmon-Clay, Ph.D., of Fort Wayne, IN. A native of Kimball, WV, Dr. Clay is a graduate of West Virginia State College and received her doctorate from Florida State University.
"Dr. Othello Jefferson was an enthusiastic, committed teacher in the Education Department at Bluefield State College," noted President Brown. "She acquired fame through her preparation of elementary teachers who have excelled in positions throughout the United States. Dr. Jefferson was sponsor of the noted dramatic 'Aesthetic Club,' which performed with great distinction for many years. Her dedication to the College was evidenced by her decision to leave her entire estate to the school."
DEDICATION 2000, a special program to announce the use of Hatter Hall for the BSC Alumni House, is planned for Saturday, July 29, 2000 at the BSC Student Union. The ceremony is open to the public.
Anthony Dillard, a Bluefield resident and an alumnus of BSC, was appointed Director of Alumni Affairs. He has been active in his new position for several weeks and will serve as a liaison between the National Association and Bluefield State College.
Another highlight of the session was a "Tribute to Past Presidents of the Association," and a "Special Tribute to Dr. Robert Moose" of Philadelphia. Dr. Moose served as National President of the BSCAA for a decade (1972-1982). A special presentation of the BSC Medallion was awarded to Dr. Moose by Dr. Moore.
