Inducts 53

The Bluefield State College chapter of Phi Eta Sigma, the national honor society for freshmen, inducted 53 students into the Society during a recent ceremony at BSC. Only those freshman who have earned at least 12 credits with a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale are eligible for membership. This achievement places these students in the top two percent of all freshmen at Bluefield State. Parents and family of the inductees attended the session, along with current chapter members.

Short, and Adam N. Shrader of Bluefield, VA, Christopher A. Foley, Courtney N. Garansuay, James B. Hall, Beth A. Henry, Christina M. Keen, Shellie N. Lambert, Michael D. Matney, Andrea N. McKinney, Heather S. Meadows, Kristin M. Musolin, Natalie R. Neal, Jessica L. Shedegar, Karen L. Taylor, and Kelsey W. Wimmer of Bluefield, WV.

Others inducted included Tammy M. Janz of Buckeye, Krystal Y. Hamrick of Crawley, April Baker of Cucumber, Sean D. Tichnell of Fanrock, Joni D. Harrah of Green Sulphir Springs, Gail Ronat of Jumping Branch, Tracy L. Wyatt of Kegley, Michele F. East of Keystone, Lester E. Bowden, Jr., Ella A. Dorsey, Felicia J. Gliottone, Jack A. Kessinger, and Lisa A. Trent of Lewisburg.

Also inducted were Clyde D. Bowles, Jr. of Matoaka, Jennifer N. Bordeaux of Montcalm, Brian H. Simpson of Mullens, Amanda D. Rose of Pageton, Jennifer L. McClung of Pickaway, Cortney R. Clay of Pineville, Thomas J.A. Cerbarano of Pratt, Mildred A. Bish, Jeffrey N. Bolton, Chrtis R. Henson, Nathan W. Scarbrough, Jennifer L. Stiltner, Robert R. Surface, Jr., and Charles D. Taylor, Jr. of Princeton, Dena L. Bolden and Amanda N. Ross of Rock, Marla A. Bell, Samuel F. Gregory, III, Charles T. Nickel, and Michelle D. Shafer of Ronceverte, Carolyn S. Allen of Union, and Lawrence E. Christian, III of Welch.

Also inducted were two honorary members,Geoffrey Hunter (Associate Professor of Business) and Kenneth Mandeville (Director of Recruitment), who were selected for their commitment to assisting freshmen students to begin their college experience on a successful note.

The induction ceremony was conducted by Chapter Advisor John Cardwell, Director of Enrollment Management, and Co-Advisor E. Ralph Patsel, Jr., Registrar/Director of Institutional Research. Assisting in the ceremony was the Secretary-Treasurer, Stephanie Quick.. .

BSC President Dr. Robert Moore closed the ceremony by extending congratulations to the inductees.

Cardwell and Patsel will attend the Awards Program at the Greenbrier Community College Center of BSC in Lewisburg on May 4 to present certificates and pins to Phi Eta Sigma inductees from that campus who were unable to attend the ceremony at BSC's Bluefield campus.
