BSC Homecoming 2001,
Begins October 5

(BLUEFIELD)–Bluefield State College will celebrate "Homecoming 2001," October 5-12. Homecoming organizers have announced this year's celebration schedule, which begins with an October 5 meeting of the BSC Alumni Association, Inc. on the Bluefield campus of BSC.

On Saturday, October 6, the Founders' Day Luncheon in the Harris-Jefferson Student Center will feature the a presentation on the history of the BSC Alumni Association. The event is sponsored by the BSC Alumni Association and the College. At 6 p.m., the annual homecoming parade will take place, followed at 7 p.m. by a "Soul Food Dinner," sponsored by Minorities on the Move and an 8 p.m. dance, sponsored by the Alumni Association, at the Harris-Jefferson Student Center..

A 1 p.m., October 7 picnic at Bluefield City Park, shelter #1, and 2 p.m. talent show at City Park are Sunday's featured events.

Voting for homecoming candidates will be conducted October 8-10, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and October 8-9, 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at various locations across the college. On Monday, October 8, BSC clubs and organizations are encouraged to participate in "Community Service Day." Tuesday's activities include a 7 p.m. Drive-In Movie, "Rocky Horror Picture Show," in the parking lot below the Brown-Gilbert Basic Science Building.

Wednesday's featured activity is the annual "Campus Carnival," at the Harris-Jefferson Student Center. The event includes carriage rides, games, vendors, food, and fun. On October 11, comedian Rodney Johnson will perform at the Harris-Jefferson Student Center, beginning at noon. Homecoming Friday, October 12, spotlights the Homecoming coronation at the Basic Science Auditorium, beginning at 7 p.m., followed by the Homecoming Dance, beginning at 9 p.m. at the Bluefield Elks Country Club.
