Brown, who coached Mount View to two sectional championships and two regional final berths in his first three years as head coach of the Golden Knights' boys roundball team, takes over a Lady Blues' program coached for the past two years by John O'Neal, who resigned last month.
A 1979 cum laude graduate of Bluefield State College, Brown is a member of the West Virginia Coaches Association and has taught in McDowell County for the past 20 years. In addition to his three years' head coaching experience with the Mount View boys' team, 1998-2001, he also coached the Mount View girls' basketball team for three seasons, as well as serving as a head girls' and assistant boys' basketball coach at Big Creek High School.
Brown has also accepted invitations to coach at the summer basketball camps of small college basketball powerhouse David Lipscomb University, and has worked at the University of Kentucky and Miami (OH) University basketball camps. He has directed the "Networks Basketball Camp" at Mount View High School for the past six summers.
He takes over a Lady Blues' basketball team that posted a 10-8 conference mark last season, 10-16 overall.
