Graduation Speakers
Announced for BSC's
2002 Commencement Exercises

(BLUEFIELD)–Graduation speakers have been announced for Bluefield State College's Associate and Baccalaureate commencement exercises, May 10-11. James L. Skidmore, Vice Chancellor for Community & Technical College Education and Workforce Development/West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission, has accepted the College's invitation to deliver the Associate Degree commencement address, May 10 at 7 p.m. Skidmore has served as Vice Chancellor for Community & Technical College Education since August, 1998. He was interim Vice Chancellor for three years prior to that appointment.

A West Virginia native, Skidmore has served in higher education within the Mountain State for more than 15 years. He was an Education Awareness counselor for the WV Board of Regents, director of Upward Bound at West Virginia Institute of Technology, and assistant director of admissions at West Virginia State College.

Samuel Moore, BSC class of 1977, will deliver the Baccalaureate Commencement address on May 11 at 10 a.m. Moore, a teacher at Cammack (WV) Middle School, was recently selected as one of only two West Virginia teachers to win the prestigious national Milken Award for teaching excellence. The Milken Award has been called the "Oscar of Teaching" by Teacher Magazine.

He is also pastor of Full Gospel Assembly in Huntington, and is Vice President of the local NAACP.
