Sarita Gattuso, EOC Director of Outreach Programs, noted, "We are excited to know we can continue our efforts to encourage nontraditional adult students to participate in, and graduate from, postsecondary education by offering assistance in admissions and financial aid. We are building self-esteem and self-worth one student at a time, and we're helping the economic growth and development of our region." The EOC program at BSC serves more than 1,100 participants annually.
The EOC helps adults prepare to enter college or vocational training by providing technical assistance and referrals. EOC services include assistance with admission and financial aid to any school, career planning and interest testing, scholarship information, college testing (ACT) information, individualized academic advising, college selection and previewing, and referrals to community resources.
EOC services are eligible to residents of Mercer, Raleigh, Greenbrier, Monroe, Summers, Wyoming, or Pocahontas counties, 19 years of age and older, and possessing a desire to pursue a college education, vocational education, or GED. EOC is a federally-funded TRIO program.
