Bluefield State College

(BLUEFIELD)–Recognizing the "power" of a college education, American Electric Power Company expanded its support of scholarship opportunities for Bluefield State College students, presenting a corporate contribution to College officials recently.

Mark Dempsey, AEP/West Virginia President and David M. Langford, AEP Community Services Manager, delivered the financial gift to BSC President Dr. Robert Moore, and the College's Director of Institutional Development & Advancement Dr. Felica Blanks during a brief ceremony in Conley Hall.

"We, at AEP, are pleased to enlarge our support for scholarship assistance at Bluefield State College," noted Dempsey. "We recognize the direct link between educational opportunities and economic development, and we are confident this gift can assist students to receive career- focused training and instruction at BSC."

Langford, a BSC graduate, added, "AEP and Bluefield State College have enjoyed a long- standing relationship. The College continues to do an excellent job in preparing students to excel in the workforce."

Dr. Blanks observed, "The continuing support of American Electric Power Company is extremely timely and much appreciated.
