BSC Associate Degree Nursing Program
Awarded Continuing National Accreditation

(BLUEFIELD)–The Associate Degree Nursing Program at Bluefield State College has been awarded continuing accreditation by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), Inc. The College was notified of the NLNAC action in August, following an accreditation visit to review the program earlier in the year.

The next scheduled NLNAC visit has been scheduled for the Spring of 2010. NLNAC executive director Barbara Grumet saluted the efforts and accomplishments of BSC Associate Degree Nursing faculty and students. "The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and its predecessor, the National League for Nursing, have stood for standards of excellence in all types of nursing education for over 50 years," Grumet commented. "By choosing to be accredited by NLNAC, you have demonstrated your commitment to the highest standards of nursing education. Your successful accreditation shows that your school does indeed meet these high standards."

Carol Cofer, BSC Associate Degree Nursing program director, noted, "The decision of NLNAC to grant this program continuing accreditation for the maximum eight-year period is gratifying and it underscores the excellence of instruction our students receive, as well as the outstanding graduates the program produces."
