"All individuals participating in tax return preparation through this program have undergone training to prepare to do tax returns," noted William Goodman, BSC Associate Professor of Accounting, who serves with William Bradberry, Associate Professor of Accounting, as VITA site coordinators.

"Taxpayers seeking assistance should bring this year's tax package, usually received through the mail, wage and earning statements (Forms W-2) received from employers, interest statements from banks (Form 1099), a copy of last year's federal and state tax return (if available), and any other relevant information concerning income and expenses," Goodman explained.

Last year, BSC volunteers contributed more than 500 hours and prepared over 400 income tax returns for area residents through the VITA program. Additional information about the VITA program at BSC can be obtained by contacting Professor Goodman at (304) 327-4107, or Professor Bradberry at (340) 327-4015.
