Abnormal Psychology Class Offers Undergraduate, Graduate Credit

Abnormal Psychology, listed as Psychology 402, will be offered at Greenbrier Community College of New River Community and Technical College this fall for undergraduate or graduate credit.

"I understand that public school teachers needing graduate renewal hours and social workers wishing to upgrade their credential can use this course on the graduate level," says Honno Kirk, long time instructor of Psychology at GCCC, adding "additional study will be required for the graduate level student."

For the undergraduate, the Bluefield State College catalog describes the class as "an experimental and theoretical study of the phenomena of psychopathology as well as a survey of the methods of clinical diagnosis and therapy. Emphasis is taken within the framework of current diagnostic classification systems."

Pre-requisite courses for the class for undergraduate credit is Psychology 103 General Psychology and six additional hours of psychology.

The class will be offered during the fall semester beginning August 21 on Thursdays 7 p.m. to 9:50 p.m. Other Psychology classes being offered this fall including General Psychology, both in the classroom and as a web based distance learning class; and Life Span and Human Development while in Sociology, the GCCC fall classes are Principles of Sociology, both in the classroom and as a web based distance learning class; and Criminal Behavior.
