Two officials from the office of Student Services at Greenbrier Community College Center of Bluefield State College represented the Greenbrier Valley's only undergraduate institution of higher education at the Clifton Middle School's College Fair in Alleghany County, Va.

Michael Palm, director of Student Services at GCCC, and Wanda Johnson, program specialist in the Student Services office, specializing in multi cultural education and activities, were present for the event which featured 26 other colleges, universities and vocation schools from throughout Virginia and neighboring WV.

"We were very impressed with the students we met and we hope our presence added to the program," Palm said as he and Johnson evaluated their first time participation in the event.

"Widen Your Choices" was the theme for the College Fair which featured time for the students to visit with the individual schools and then also hear a student panel discuss post high school possibilities. "It was great for GCCC to be included," Johnson noted, adding that "GCCC and Dabney S. Lancaster Community College have so many reciprocity courses of study which allows students in one state to study at the campus in another state at in state tuition."

Other West Virginia schools represented included the Greenbrier School of Nursing in Fairlea and the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine, Lewisburg.

Schools in the Alleghany Highlands and Covington school districts as well as neighboring school districts participating included Jeter Watson Intermediate; Central Academy, Valley Elementary, Millboro Elementary, Rockbridge Middle, Maury River Middle, Parry McCluer Middle and Clifton Middle.

Greenbrier Community College Center serves students from Monroe, Pocahontas, Summers, Greenbrier, eastern Fayette, eastern Raleigh, and south and eastern Nicholas counties in WV and from the Alleghany Highlands of Virginia, including the cities of Covington and Clifton Forge from its campus which is a part of the Academy Park on U.S. 60 W at Church Street in Lewisburg.
