The organization which uses its members to advise area businesses on good business practices has been in the Greenbrier Valley only a couple of years, yet in the article, Best Practices, the magazine notes that "Volunteers and clients have access to the college's computer facility and research tools."
In quoting the Chapter Chair Robert Mareneck, the article praises the "cooperative and supportive relationship with the college. For instance, faculty members frequently invite SCORE volunteers to their classes to speak about small business issues."
The article also quotes Mareneck in pointing out, "Our chapter shows students that there are career alternatives. We introduce students to small business ownership as a career option." The traditional careers in the state, the article notes, are mining and timber.
Using GCCC as one of two community colleges as a source of information for the article, the staff writer also looked at the SCORE partnership with Houston, Tx., Community College
