An Alderson couple who are both associated with Greenbrier Community College Center each received a college degree within a week of each other.
Curtis Pauley, director of the Veterans Upward Bound Program at GCCC and at the Beckley campus of Bluefield State College, received his Masters degree in Adult Technology Education from Marshall University on Saturday, May 10 while his wife, a sophomore at GCCC, received her Associate degree in General Education during Commencement Exercises at Bluefield State College May 16.
Pauley, a native of Chelyen, Kanawha County, received his undergraduate degree from WV State College and has been associated with GCCC/BSC for seven years.
Mrs. Beverly Pauley, a native of Pratt, Kanawha County, has maintained a 4.0 grade point average while being active in the Student Government Association, the staff of The Saga, and various other activities, including being a published author of a short story.
Prior to moving to the Greenbrier Valley, the Pauleys resided in Princeton where he was associated with Food Lion and she was a housewife.
Active in the community, Curtis is a member of the Greenbrier Valley Chorale and Beverly is active with the WV Writers Inc., sponsors of the state's annual writing competition.
