The offices, library and computer labs of Greenbrier Community College Center will close at noon on May 23 and will not reopen until May 27 at 8 a.m. in observance of Memorial Day.
However, the first floor of Greenbrier Hall, including the Hollowell Auditorium will be open for the various Living History events scheduled as a part of the Living History and Battle of Lewisburg Reenactment which is centered on the GCCC campus Friday, May 23, through Monday, May 26.
The Civil War camp will be on the front lawn of Greenbrier Hall.
As GCCC reopens on Tuesday, May 27, the summer semester 2003 will begin with registration scheduled May 27-28 and classes to begin on May 28.
The classes offered during the first term of summer school which runs May 27-June 27 will be Web Programming; English Composition; Linguistics; Health and Safety in Schools; Hospitality Internship; and Physical Education in K-6 Grades.
Also offered in a ten week segment beginning May 27 through July 31 will be Developmental Arithmetic; Developmental Algebra; College Algebra; and Principles of Sociology. For the second summer term, June 30-July 31, the GCCC offerings will be Computers and Society; Advanced Web Programming; English Research; Music Skills for Classroom Teachers; and Fundamentals of Speech.
Librarian Bob Coston stresses that the Library will be open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, but the schedule might be altered, depending upon the requests for special hours to coincide with the summer school classes.
"But, we will be open each weekday with a full staff to help the students and the general public," Coston adds, noting that the GCCC library is the only research oriented library in the Greenbrier Valley which is open to the public's use.
