GVCNRCTC Students Sending Cards to Army Buddies in Iraq

The Christmas season for three former students at the Greenbrier Valley Campus of New River Community and Technical College's Upward Bound program will be a little brighter as a result of a Christmas card mailing campaign being conducted under the direction of Curtis Pauley, director of the GVCNRCTC Veterans Upward Bound program.

Joe Brown, Joe Gebron and David Wills are former GVCNRCTC sudents now serving in the U.S. Army in Iraq and will be receiving cards and letters from present students. The cards and/or letters can be left in the Christmas box in the Student Activities Center on the first floor of Greenbrier Hall, the main office and classroom building for GVCNRCTC.

"We must mail these on Dec. 3 for the soldiers to receive them in time for the holidays," Pauley noted, adding that anyone can leave the letters and cards in the box. "All support from the public is invited."

Pauley also asked for information on any other GVCNRCTC students who have been called to active duty in Iraq who may not have been part of the VUB program. "We want to include everyone in this special service," he concluded.

A special bulletin board display in the center hall of the second floor office complex in Greenbrier Hall has been used to promote the "Send a Card" program.
