Former Maryland Lt. Governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend (second from left) was presented a plaque of recognition for her presentation at the recent 10th anual Ohio Access Center for Higher Education/West Virginia Access Center for Higher Education Conference in Lewisburg. Pictured are (left-to-right) Bluefield State College President Dr. Albert Walker, Kennedy Townsend, WVACHE executive director Sarita Gattuso, OACHE executive director Wayne White, and Southern State (OH) Comunity College President Dr. Larry Duke. The two-day conference at the Greenbrier Valley Campus of the New River Community & Technical College of BSC attracted 267 attendees. The OACHE and WVACHE projects have received national recognition for their effectiveness in increasing the college-going rate for students in selected high schools.
