The provost of the New River Community and Technical College, with
campuses in Beckley/Raleigh County; Bluefield State College; Nicholas
County and the Greenbrier Valley, presented a musical program of
traditional mountain music, including hymns and folk songs, as a part of
the annual Down on the Farm Days at the state fairground last weekend.
Dr. David Perkins who is noted for sharing his music talents for charitable events in southern WV performed on Saturday morning as a part of the two day event sponsored by the Edgewood Presbyterian Church and the T.A.H.O.O organization. Proceeds went to various charities including scholarship funds.
As provost, Dr. Perkins coordinates the work of the four campuses with the administration of Bluefield State College and with the Board of Governors of BSC as well as the WV Higher Education Planning Commission.
