Homecoming Activities at the
Greenbrier Valley Campus of
New River Community and Technical College
of Bluefield State College

Homecoming activities for the Greenbrier Valley Campus of New River Community and Technical College were highlighted Sept. 11 with the announcement of Mr. and Miss GVCNRCTC for 2003-03.

Roger Griffith, director of the GVCNRCTC, presided over the event in the Student Activities Center where Nicole Massey of Alderson was crowned Miss GVCNRCTC and Solomon Simmon of Fairlea, Mr. GVCNRCTC. The coronation was presided over by Mr. and Miss GCCC 2002-03 Cindy Gilkeson of Lewisburg and Nathan Sams of Alderson.

Members of the Court included Nathan Sams of Alderson, Cindy Gilkeson of Lewisburg (Mr. and Miss GCC 2002-03) Leslie Hopkins, Princeton; Bridgette Smith, Union; Sherri Ann Webb, White Sulphur Springs; Rebecca Eli, Lewisburg; Christy Sofil, Alderson, and Nicholas Shoemaker, Rainelle. Sofil and Shoemaker are first runners up.

Among the many duties of Mr. and Miss GVCNRCTC will be to represent the more than 1,000 GVC students at the Bluefield State College Homecoming activities Oct. 1-4.

Using a theme, Medieval Times, the BSC Homecoming highlights include a parade Oct. 1 at 6 p.m., Big Blue Games Oct. 3; the Homecoming coronation and dance at the Holiday Inn Oct.3 and the Founder's Day luncheon Oct. 4.

The new Mr. and Miss GVCNRCTC will also represent the Greenbrier Valley Campus in area festival and Christmas parades and at NRCTC events throughout the college year.

The local Homecoming observance is coordinated by the GVC Student Government Association with Terry South of Union as president.
