(Bluefield)-Roger Owensby, Assistant Professor and Department Head of
Mining Engineering Technology at Bluefield State College, has been
selected to chair the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration
(Southeast Region). He was promoted from vice-chair to chair at SMEs
recent annual meeting and exhibit in Denver, CO.
Through its annual, topical, and regional meetings, SME provides opportunities for the critical exchange of information that enhances the professional and the industry. These programs are designed for and by the men and women who work to advance mineral science. Owensby also promotes mining in schools through activities in conjunction with the National Science Teachers Association.
