Rodgers Named Bursar for GVCNRCTC

Deena Rodgers of Fairlea has been named Bursar for the Greenbrier Valley Campus of New River Community and Technical College, according to an announcement by Roger Griffith, director of the GVCNRCTC.

Rodgers, a native of Midway, Raleigh County, replaces Nora Overath of White Sulphur Springs who has assumed a position in the student services office.

The daughter of Bill and Kathy Pennington of Midway, she and her husband, Thorton, are to parents of a daughter, Devon, and son, Trey, both students at Ronceverte Elementary School. Her husband is associated with Rodgers Fairlea GMC Subaru and is a student in the nursing program at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in Clifton Forge, Va., a college with which GVCNRCTC has a reciprocity agreement whereby students in certain fields of study can take classes on either campus and pay in state tuition.

Prior to joining the GVCNRCTC staff, Rodgers was associated with Walmart in Lewisburg.

In making the announcement, Griffith noted that the addition of Rodgers to the GVCNRCTC staff, "is another example of how the College is continuing to grow in service to the students of the Greenbrier Valley. We are very pleased to have Rodgers as part of our staff."

As bursar, Rodgers' busiest days will be upcoming as current students who have or will be registering for the second or spring semester pay fees Jan. 11-12 and open registration for non current students takes place Jan. 13-14.

Her office is located on the second floor of Greenbrier Hall, the main office and classroom building for the GVCNRCTC.
