(BLUEFIELD)--Bluefield State College officials recently received a proclamation from a representative of the WV Alcohol Beverage Control Administration (ABCA), saluting BSC's efforts to protect and educate college students about the dangers of alcohol abuse.

Gary L. "Gig" Robinson, II, Supervisor/Education & Prevention-ABCA, presented a proclamation to Dr. Bernadette Dragich and Roy Grimes, BSC's representatives on the steering committee task force for the West Virginia Statewide Coalition on Alcohol Use in Higher Education.

The steering committee is developing environmental strategies and projects to enhance students' understanding of the dangers associated with alcohol abuse along with strategies to avoid such abuse.

In April, a survey will be conducted at BSC, providing information that will be incorporated into a statewide initiative to develop a statewide alcohol abuse prevention/education program for students.
