Curtis Pauley who heads the Veterans Upward Bound programs on the three campuses says that these classes in English, Math and Computers help the veterans to adjust to college classes and serve as a review for the veterans.
"We plans to get the classes at Beckley/Raleigh County Campus and the Greenbrier Valley Campus going during the week of Jan. 26 and at the Nicholas County Campus the week of February 16," Pauley reports, urging any honorably discharged veterans from any branch of military service to contact him to register for the program.
"Our service area is any county within driving range of either of the Campuses, as well as the Bluefield State College campus," Pauley notes. "I would like to hear from veterans from the Webster, Clay, Braxton, Nicholas, Fayette, Raleigh, Wyoming, Summers, Monroe, Greenbrier, and Pocahontas area as well as neighboring area in Virginia and WV."
The Veterans Upward Bound program also welcomes inquiries from any honorably discharged veteran who is already enrolled in classes at NRCTC. "We may be able to provide some of the costs associated with attending college as well as invite the veterans to join in our social programs," Pauley concluded.
