Student Support Services
Awards $40,000 in Grant Aid

(BLUEFIELD)-Student Support Services at Bluefield State College has awarded 40 participants $1,000 apiece in grant aid. Recipients were selected on the basis of their participation in the project, were in their first two years of postsecondary education, and were receiving Federal Pell Grants. The Bush Administration set aside additional funds from this year's appropriations for the Student Support Services Programs to assist students in achieving their collegiate goals. The purpose of the grant is to enable students to remain in school and graduate.

Kathy Epperly, Director of Student Support Services, commented,"SSS is very appreciative to the Bush Administration and is delighted to be able to provide assistance to students who met specific grant guidelines and might not be able to complete their college education because of lack of money."

The following students were awarded $500.00 during the first semester and will be awarded an additional $500.00 in February: Jeffrey Anderson, Jacqueline Parrish, Barry Baker, Kimberly Phelps, Tremayne Bennett, Kevin Pruitt, Veleshea Bowles, Christi Ralosky, Tanisha Carr, Adam Robinson, Melissa Carter, David Romine, Cynthia Carty, Jonathan Seitz, David Cline, Irene Shaffer, Anethra Coleman, Matthew Smith, Derick Flack, Debra Spangler, Jim Fowler, Shelia Stacy, Tammy Godfrey, James Swain, Jennifer Green, Helena Taylor, Kenneth Jackson, Yvonne Thomas, Nicole Lewis, Kalla Thompson, Larry Loftin, Kimberly Watson, Earnest Lovern, Cathy Whitt, Linda Martus, Leslie Wilkins, Gary McPherson, Barbara Williams, Regina O'Neal, and Karen Windon
