The Governor’s Associate Degree, the Associate of Applied Science in Technical Studies, the Paraprofessional in Education associate, and the Certificate of Applied Science in Technical Studies and Paraprofessional in Education certificate were outlined as they have been designed to meet the needs of non-traditional students in the 10 county area served by the state’s newest, fully accredited college.
In other business, Edward Knight of Lewisburg, chairman, appointed committees, and lead the Board in appointing additional members to the search committee for the new president; in hearing a presentation by Jessica Phares of the Nicholas County Campus on the classified staff council; hearing the President’s report by Dr. Felica Wooten Blanks, interim president of NRCTC, having a report on a proposed multi media public relations program, having a report on the pre-employment classes at The Greenbrier, honoring Kay Carpenter for her work on the Board of Advisors, and making preliminary plans for a board training retreat.
New River Community and Technical College serves the Clay, Webster, Nicholas, Fayette, Pocahontas, Summers, Raleigh, Greenbrier, Monroe, and Mercer county area from the Beckley campus in Harper Industrial Park; the Bluefield campus at Bluefield State College; the Greenbrier Valley campus in Lewisburg; and the Nicholas County campus in Summersville.
