GVCNRCTC Hospitality, Tourism Program Popular Statewide

The one program which draws students from other parts of the state to the Greenbrier Valley Campus of New River Community and Technical College is the Hospitality/Tourism Management program,

Under the direction of Reba Mohler, coordinator, the GVC program of study includes working with the greats of the industry who are affiliated with the resorts and tourist attractions in the Greenbrier Valley and Alleghany Highlands.

The Hospitality and Tourism Management Degree program offers a quality educational experience that features as much "hands on" experience as possible. With the GVC's location in the heart of one of WV's premier tourist destination regions, the program is built upon education partnerships with some of the area's hospitality and tourism leaders--from luxury resorts to outdoor adventure destinations, to quaint inns and cozy bed and breakfasts.

Lodging and food service jobs in WV's fast-growing field of tourism represent a promising area for career development.

The Associate in Applied Science in Technical Studies Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management prepares students to enter with appropriate work experience in the field, mid-management, management, or entrepreneurial positions in resorts, restaurants, hotels or motels, inns, or bed and breakfast enterprises.

The curriculum is comprised of general education and business support classes, knowledge- and skill-based courses in lodging and food service management, and experimental based internships in local resorts, motels, and restaurants.

Students can choose from or pick both Hotel/Motel Management emphasis or Restaurant/Food Service Management emphasis.
