“We are pleased to be able to offer an associate degree in Banking and an associate degree in Legal Assisting,” said Roger Griffith, director of GVCNRCTC in making the announcement. “These two programs will serve greatly the area in which the GVCNRCTC is the only undergraduate institution of higher education.” Griffith notes that within a 60 to 90 minute drive of the Greenbrier Valley Campus, there are eight county seats in WV and six in bordering counties in Virginia which serve as the legal hubs for the counties and cities of GVCNRCTC area.
Virginia residents can possibly qualify for in state tuition for GVCNRCTC classes through the reciprocity agreement with Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in Clifton Forge, Va.
In the spring semester which begins Jan. 17, the Legal Assisting program at GVCNRCTC will be offering Real Estate Law, Civil Litigations, Business Organizations and Government Regulations, Law of Domestic Relations, and Introduction to Legal Assisting.
Meanwhile, the Banking classes offered at GVCNRCTC have proven to be quite popular. “There are 36 banks and branch banks in the area served by the GVCNRCTC,” Griffith noted, “ And we are presenting the classes recommended by the American Institute of Banking.” Graduates from this program prepare for careers in commercial banks, thrift institutions, government lending agencies, and credit companies. The program, Griffith says, is designed to facilitate initial employment in the banking industry or to increase the upward mobility potential of students currently employed in the banking or finance industry.
Information on these and other programs offered at the Greenbrier Valley Campus of New River Community and Technical College can be obtained by telephoning 304-647-6560 or writing or visiting the Greenbrier Valley Campus at 101 Church Street, Lewisburg, WV, 24901
