A total of 772 students are attending classes on the main campus of the Greenbrier Valley Campus of New River Community and Technical College this spring semester which began Jan. 18, according to an announcement Feb. 2 by Roger Griffith, director of the GVCNRCTC.

"You can expect records to be set in the fall semester, but very seldom in the spring semester!" exclaimed Griffith who double checked enrollment figures just prior to making the announcement. The previous high enrollment for the main campus was 709.

"In addition, we registered nearly 200 new students, almost a total contrast to the usual second semester," he added.

"This will give us a building block for the fall semester," Griffith said, adding that the GVCNRCTC has just been notified of three new degree and/or certificate programs which will be announced publicly soon have received final approval for beginning in the fall semester, 2005. Two new programs Griffith announced Wednesday have been approved in the reciprocity agreement with Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in Clifton Forge, Va.

These two degree programs will be in Welding and in Culinary Arts with much of the classwork leading to the DSLCC degree being completed at GVCNRCTC.

"We are delighted we can offer the residents of the Greenbrier Valley and the Alleghany Highlands these two degree programs at in state tuition rates," Griffith bragged.

Information on the programs offered by GVCNRCTC can be obtained by telephoning 304-647-6560 or writing or visiting the offices of GVCNRCTC, 101 Church Street, Lewisburg, 24901.
