(BLUEFIELD)--Free income tax preparation assistance for low income and elderly individuals will be offered again this year by the faculty and students in the Accounting Program at Bluefield State College. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, co- sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service, will offer free tax preparation help, beginning on February 1, 2005 (3:30 p.m.-6 p.m.) at Bluefield State College.

"All individuals participating in tax return preparation through this program have undergone training to prepare to do tax returns," noted William Goodman, BSC Associate Professor of Accounting, who serves as VITA site coordinator. Last year, BSC volunteers contributed 517 hours and prepared 345 income tax returns for area residents through the VITA program.
