BSC Nursing Honor Society Inducts New Members

(Bluefield)—Bluefield State College recently held its 2005 induction ceremony for the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, Tau Delta Chapter. Sigma Theta Tau is the second largest nursing organization in the United States, and one of the five largest and most prestigious nursing organizations in the world

Baccalaureate candidates inducted into membership included: Jill Blake, Susan Blevins, Susan Dick, Jennifer Graves, Teresa Hall, Jessica Hall, Amanda Hatfield, Nancy Newsome, Robin Riffe, Kelli Sarver, Carol Lynn Stowers, Christina Thompson, Mercedes Weikle, Deborah Williams-Jessee.

President Sandra Wynn, RN, MSN presided over the induction. New officers were also elected and included: President-Elect Angela Hughes, RN, MSN, Vice President Pamela Lindsey, RN, MSN, Secretary Carol Rose, RN, BSN, Treasurer Dr. Betty Rader, RN, Board members, Janet Johnson-Stowers, RN, BSN and Michelle Farley, RN, MBA. Beth Pritchett, RN, MN and Betty Blevins, RN, MSN serve as faculty advisors.

Membership is conferred upon nursing students in baccalaureate or graduate programs who demonstrate excellence in nursing, and upon qualified graduates who demonstrate exceptional achievement in nursing education, practice, research, administration, or publication. The purpose of the honor society is to recognize superior achievement and the development of leadership qualities, foster high professional standards, encourage creative work, and strengthen commitment to the ideals and purposes of the profession of nursing.
