BSC Health Fair Attracts 20 Exhibitors and 250+ Attendees

(Bluefield)—The Bluefield State College health fair, presented recently in the Harris-Jefferson Student Center, attracted more than 250 students and employees who visited information booths set up by 20 vendors. The annual event is a highlight of the BSC Wellness Committee’s calendar to encourage healthy lifestyles.

Students in the BSC nursing program provided several points of emphasis, including blood pressure checks, aids awareness, and blood sugar testing. Other exhibitors included the WVU Extension Service/Health Program, the Greater Bluefield Community Center, the South Bluefield Neighborhood Association, Curves, Wind Horse Healing Arts Center Inc., Herbalife, APPI/FPP/DMCFH, Weight Watchers, the American Red Cross, Princeton community Hospital, CASE, and the Mercer County Health Department.

Roy Grimes, BSC Wellness Committee chair, noted, “We’re gratified by the level of participation among vendors and College students and staff. This was a productive education that provided information that will help those attending to enjoy healthier lives.” Other BSC Wellness Committee members included Dr. Bernadette Dragich, Dr. Raphael Heaggans, Robin Shapiro, Cravor Jones, Rebecca Martin, Lisa Neel, Lala Wooten, and Kendill Poseno.
