(Bluefield)—Dr. Bernadette Dragich was a featured presenter at the recent 38th Biennial Convention of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, in Indianapolis, IN. Dragich, Professor of Nursing and “George M. Cruise Endowed Chair of Nursing” at Bluefield State College, made a presentation during the symposium, “Leader’s Role in the Creation of a Caring Environment.”
The symposium explored theoretical constructs from nursing education and feminist literature with a focus upon developing a model of caring in nursing education. “Methods to make caring more visible and beneficial were discussed as they relate to nursing education and the contemporary nursing practice,” Dragich noted. She also served as a moderator for scientific sessions on “Promoting Nursing Student Success,” “Historical Nursing Research,” and “Transcultural Nursing.”
Dragich also selected to receive the “BSC Foundation Outstanding Faculty Award” for 2005 during the College’s May, 2005 commencement exercises.
