( Bluefield)—Dr. Bernadette Dragich was recently honored as the second recipient of the “George M. Cruise Endowed Chair in Nursing” at Bluefield State College during a luncheon program that attracted several members of the Bluefield State College community.
Dr. Betty Rader, Interim Dean, BSC School of Nursing and Allied Health, recognized Dr. Dragich’s scholarly activities, which include numerous presentations at state and national conferences, as well as her grant-writing success. Dr. Rader also noted that Dragich was chosen by her peers as the Bluefield State College Foundation’s “Outstanding Faculty Award” recipient for 2005. Additionally, the BSC Professor of Nursing provides leadership in the operation of the Student Health Center and is an active member of the BSC Wellness Committee and the National Youth Sports Program’s advisory board.
Dr. Albert Walker, BSC President, also saluted Dragich’s professional accomplishments and her commitment to service.
Dragich holds membership in the American Nurses Association, West Virginia Nurses Association, National League for Nursing, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Her community service includes council membership with the Mercer County Head Start Program, membership on the United Negro College Fund’s Special Programs Committee, American Red Cross, Mercer County Sexual Assault Resource Board, and the Higher Education Alcohol Awareness Council.
