( Bluefield)—College employees are occasionally asked to deal productively with individuals who are upset, angry, or argumentative. A recent workshop at Bluefield State College focused upon positive methods of handling challenging encounters and situations.
The program, “How to Deal With Difficult People,” was team-taught by Susan England-Lord, Assistant Extension Professor and West Virginia University 4-H Youth Development Agent (serving Wyoming County) and Rhonda Coleman, WVU Extension Service (WVUES) Agent (serving Raleigh County). The presentation was one of 12 training and development workshops offered by the BSC Office of Human Resources during the Fall 2006 Semester. England-Lord is co-team chair of the WVUES Volunteer Development team, and it attracted employees from BSC and New River Community and Technical College.
Other workshops and training sessions during the fall semester covered topics ranging from sexual harassment to job survival and supervisor survival. These sessions are open to the general public and for more information you can visit Bluefield State College’s Webpage.
