BSC Student Becomes a Published Poet

Adam Finley( Bluefield)—Adam Finley, a Bluefield State College freshman, has compiled a rich and varied body of memories during his life, many during the eight years between his graduation from Bluefield High School and his enrollment this fall at BSC. Drawing from his life experience, Finley has written several poems over the past decade, and he was recently notified that one of those poems has been selected for publication in the “Immortal Verses Series,” scheduled for release later this year.

I gained an interest in poetry and writing while I was a student in Mr. (Douglas) Bourne’s at Bluefield High School,” Finley recalled. “I gained an appreciation for poetry as a means of expressing how I feel.” Now married and the father of two young children, Finley was recently notified that his poem, “My World,” was chosen for inclusion in the next “poetry.com” series. “The poem was written in tribute to my wife, Elizabeth, when we were dating,” he added. “For me, poetry has captured and preserved how I’ve felt during specific periods of my life. It’s a very satisfying means of expression.”
