BSC’s 2006 Homecoming, September 30-October 7

( Bluefield)—Organizers have released an ambitious 10-event schedule for Bluefield State College’s 2006 Homecoming, September 30-October 7. Utilizing the theme “A Midnight in Paris,” BSC’s weeklong program begins with a “Kick Off Parade” (11 a.m.) September 30, followed immediately by a “Campus Carnival” (noon).

Homecoming court elections will be conducted on Monday and Tuesday, October 2-3. The first “Brian A. Delp Memorial 5K Walk/Run starts at 6 p.m. on October 3. The event is designed to raise funds for the “Humanitarian Athletic Award.” ~A busy Wednesday, October 4, begins with day 1 of a two-day scavenger hunt and a celebration with food, fun and prizes in the Harris-Jefferson Student Center. Both functions begin at 10 a.m.

On October 5, the scavenger hunt ends, while the celebration at the Harris-Jefferson Student Center continues (10 a.m.-2 p.m.).

Mr. and Miss BSC, along with their homecoming court, will be announced on Friday, October 6 during a 7 p.m. coronation ceremony at the Bluefield Elks Club, and a formal dance will follow. “Homecoming is a tradition-rich week at Bluefield State College and we’re looking forward to trying some new ideas with this year’s activities,” noted homecoming committee chairman Jamie Styons. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for our students to experience a side of campus life beyond the classroom.” Additional information can be obtained by calling the BSC Student Government Office at (304) 327-4185.
