( BLUEFIELD)--Graduates of Bluefield State College's Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program achieved a 92.54% passage rate on the National Council Licensure Examination-RN (NCLEX-RN) for the reporting period of January 1-December 31, 2005. The state passage rate on the NCLEX-RN was 87.24% and the national passage rate was 87.29%. Successful completion of the exam permits the graduate to apply for licensure as a registered nurse.
Sandra Wynn, Interim Director of Associate Degree Nursing at BSC, observed that the passage rate for BSC nursing graduates has exceeded both the state and national passage rates for several years. "The success of our graduates is a tribute to their commitment to excel as well as the quality of our faculty, our program, and the hospitals with which we work," Wynn noted.
The Associate Degree Nursing program is approved by the West Virginia State Board of Examiners For Registered Nurses and is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. Nursing courses are designed to provide learning opportunities for acquiring the necessary nursing knowledge and skill to practice nursing at the associate degree level. The focus is holistic health promotion and wellness.
