BSC Rad. Tech. Director Melissa Haye
Appointed to WV Radiologic Technology
Board of Examiners

Melissa Haye( Bluefield)—Melissa Haye (Bluefield State College’s Radiologic Technology program director) has been appointed to a position on the West Virginia Radiologic Technology (WVRT) Board of Examiners. Haye, who received the BSC Foundation’s “Outstanding Faculty Award” in 2004, will serve on the State Board through June, 2007. Her appointment to the Board was made by West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin in February and confirmed by the West Virginia Senate earlier this month.

The WVRT Board of Examiners was established by State Code on July 1, 1978. “The Board was created the same year that I became a professional technologist,” Haye said. “I have always hoped for the opportunity to serve as a member of the Board.” To practice in West Virginia, every radiologic technologist in West Virginia must first be licensed by the WVRT Board of Examiners. The Board also deals with legislative issues relevant to the profession.

Haye, who is the first southern representative in several years to be appointed to the Board, looks forward to her new appointment. “The experience of serving on the Board of Examiners will permit me to gain greater insight into emerging issues in the field, then share that understanding in the classroom at BSC,” she added.
