NCCI—Coal Institute Scholarship

( Bluefield)—Eddie Bailey, a Bluefield State College student majoring in Mining Engineering Technology, has been selected to receive the first NCCI-The Coal Institute Scholarship. NCCI provides resources for coal education to colleges and K-12 programs.
Ron Whalen, past president of NCCI and a BSC alumnus, made the scholarship presentation during a brief ceremony at the College. Bailey is a graduate of Iaeger High School. A fulltime student at BSC and the son of Kathy and the late Larry Bailey, he is also the “Tail Longwall Foreman” for Pin Oak Resources, Pineville, WV. He expressed his appreciation to his employees at Pin Oak for their support.
“Eddie is an outstanding student and is a very worthy recipient of the NCCI scholarship,” noted Roger Owensby, BSC Department Head of Mining Engineering Technology.
