( BLUEFIELD)--Six scholarly papers prepared and submitted by Bluefield State College faculty members have been accepted for presentation at the 2007 American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) Annual Conference and Exposition in Honolulu, Hawaii next summer. The conference brings together more than 2000 engineering educators, vendors, and publishers.
Don Bury (Professor/Department Head, Architectural Engineering Technology) will present “ Woman-Tech Academy: An Experience for Middle and High School Girls Through Collaboration Between a College and County Technical Education Center.” Bruce Mutter (Associate Professor, Architectural Engineering Technology) will present “Using Innovative Methods for Improving Live and Online Classroom Interaction in Engineering Economics Courses.” BSC faculty members Lionel Craddock (Associate Professor, Computer Science), Dr. Martha Eborall (Associate Professor, Biology), Dr. Lewis Foster (Professor, Physics), and Mutter will collaborate to present “Developing a Multi-Disciplinary Online Cyber-Infrastructure Course Through Project-Centric Bioinformatics.”
Additionally, Dr. Foster will present “Using Innovative Methods for Improving Live and Online Classroom Interaction in Engineering Mechanics Courses.” Roger Owensby (Assistant Professor/Department Head, Mining Engineering Technology) will present “Development of a Web-Based Curriculum in Mining Engineering Technology.” Frank Hart (Dean, Engineering Technology and Computer Science; Professor, Civil Engineering Technology) and Mutter will partner to teach “Developing a Center for Applied Research and Technology Transfer [CART, INC.] at Bluefield State College.”

The six abstracts approved for presentation represents the highest number of BSC-submitted papers ever accepted for an ASEE conference and exposition."
