Inducts 20 New Students

Twenty Bluefield State College students were inducted into the College chapter of Phi Eta Sigma, the honor society for freshmen. Inductees include (pictured, row one, left to right) Roy L. (Bluefield)— The Bluefield State College chapter of Phi Eta Sigma, the national honor society for freshmen, inducted 20 students into the Society during a recent ceremony at BSC. Only those freshmen who have earned at least 12 credits with a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale are eligible for membership. This achievement places these students in the top two percent of all freshmen at Bluefield State. Parents and family of the inductees attended the session, along with current chapter members.

Bluefield WV: Roseanna Bratton, Adam L. Finley, Kimberly Ann Maddow, Pamela Neese, Kristen Janelle Williams;

Bluefield, Va.: Bethany Dawn Sawyers;

Andersonville, TN: Thomas Riggs;

The Gambia, Africa: Saul Sarr;

Crab Orchard, WV: Justin D. Milam;

Hurricane, WV: Susan Elizabeth Dillon;

Newhall, WV: Prezlee H. Dalton;

Peterstown, WV: Heather H. Goodman, Ben Peters;

Princeton, WV: Christina Lynn Booth , Karena Bowling, Matthew David Duncan, Angela Hanson, Anthony Todd Jones, and;

Winston-Salem, NC: Howard Coston, Jr..

John M. White (Assistant Professor of Social Science/Associate Dean, School of Arts & Sciences), Roy L. Grimes (Director of Intramurals and Recreation), and Thomas G. Ilse (Director of Financial Aid ) were also inducted as honorary members.

Dr. Albert L. Walker, BSC President, assisted with the installation of new members, then praised their academic accomplishments. More than 70 family members and friends of inductees attended the ceremony.

The program was coordinated by Chapter co-advisors John Cardwell (Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management) and E. Ralph Patsel, Jr., (retired Registrar).
