(Bluefield)—The proof is in the pudding, or in this case, the chili when the region’s top chefs come together for the Bluefield State College Research and Development Corporation’s 2 nd Annual “Chili Cook-Off,” February 23, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., at the BSC R&D Corporation building, 704 Bland Street, Bluefield, WV.
Gerald James, Director of Business Development for the BSC R&D Corporation and the event’s organizer, noted that taste-testing tickets are on sale, with proceeds to benefit educational enhancement and community outreach programs for BSC. “We want this to be an event that gets people into the downtown area. This year several student organizations are helping and we look forward to the participation of our student body,” he said.
“This will be a family-oriented event with a lot of good food as well as live entertainment,” James continued. Judging will take place in three categories—overall winner, hottest chili, and most unique chili with a judges’ division and a “people’s choice” division in each category. Individuals, companies and/or teams are encouraged to enter the cook-off and see who earns bragging rights for the Best Chili in Town! Admission to the event is free, taste-testing tickets will be sold at the door.
Entry forms and additional information can be obtained by contacting Gerald James at (304) 327-4300, or by e-mail at gjames@bluefieldstate.edu
