Blevins to Speak at
Welch Chamber of Commerce's
Community Enhancement
Opportunity Meeting

Dr Thomas Blevins( Bluefield)—Dr. Thomas Blevins, Dean of the Virtual College and Information Technology and the School of Teacher Education at Bluefield State College, will be the featured speaker at the Welch Area Chamber of Commerce’s monthly community enhancement opportunity meeting, January 26, beginning at noon in the Herzbrun Room/Welch Library. The public is invited to attend and a light lunch will be available.

Blevins, who is also Director of Instructional Technology Planning & Coordination with the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission, will discuss educational opportunities available through distance learning. Through distance learning, students take classes from their homes, offices, or other locations. They communicate with faculty and other students through e-mail, electronic forums, videoconferencing, chat rooms, bulletin boards, instant messaging, and/or other forms of computer-based communications. “Bluefield State College’s distance learning classes are directed toward the nontraditional student and other individuals who are place-bound by time, job, and/or family commitments,” Blevins explained.

The public is invited to attend Dr. Blevins’ presentation, and a light lunch will be available.
