Bluefield State College's 2007 Radiologic Technology graduates have achieved a 100% passage rate on the certification examination by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
The BSC RadTech program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), having received official notification that it had been awarded continuing national accreditation of eight (8) years from JRCERT in October, 2001. JRCERT is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as the national agency for the accreditation of educational programs for the radiographer and radiation therapist, and is responsible for all accreditation actions.
BSC's 2007 RadTech graduates who passed the certification examination include: Cathy Bailes, Jennifer Boyce, Hannah Campbell, Erika Francis, Danielle Hawes, Jerry Helton, Jr., Nicole Holcomb, Starlene Johnson, Angenetta Lane, Jennifer Little, Kara McKinney, Tracey Pruitt, Adrien Pyne, Johnny Reed, Justin Reed, Jerry Randy Shrew sbury, and Sabrina Valentine.
The students were honored at a pinning ceremony on May 4, 2007 in Hebert Gallery. The outstanding clinical award went to Danielle Hawes and the outstanding academic award was presented to Justin Reed. The JRCERT Certificate of Excellence determined by the faculty to be the students who most fit the description of the professional and ethical technologist were awarded to Sabrina Valentine and Jerry Helton, Jr. All students received their radiologic technology pin at this ceremony.
Faculty include: Melissa Haye (program director), Angela Lambert (clinical coordinator), Vanessa Godfrey (didactic instructor), Amy Bennett (clinical instructor/Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital), Richard Gibson (clinical instructor/Bluefield Regional Medical Center), Amanda Johnson (clinical instructor/ Plateau Medical Center) and Robin Gibson (clinical instructor/Princeton Community Hospital).
