Special Recognition at
Direct Marketing Association
“Collegiate Maxi” Competition

(Bluefield)—Two Bluefield State College student teams received special recognition during the 2007 Collegiate MAXI Competition sponsored by the Direct Marketing Association of Washington Educational Foundation.

The Bronze Award was presented to BSC students Jennifer Bennett, Andrea Browning, Katrina Hall, and Josh Hart. BSC students Alethia Gore, Dijo Maiga, and Irene Shaffer collaborated to earn Honorable Mention recognition.

Collegiate MAXI competition is held in conjunction with the National Collegiate ECHO competition sponsored by the Direct Marketing Association Educational Foundation. Students from colleges across Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia compete in this annual competition.

Susan Mann, faculty advisor and marketing instructor for the BSC student contingent, noted, “Working on the MAXI entries gave our students a sense of ‘real world’ direct marketing. The contest permitted students to practice what they had learned in class—conducting research, then identifying demographics and a target market.”
