(Bluefield)—Jason Duncan has been selected as the winner of the "Claude B. Dalton Award" for 2007 at Bluefield State College. The award is presented annually to the outstanding freshman in Engineering Technology and Computer Science at BSC. Jason is majoring in Civil/Architectural Engineering Technology.
Jason was valedictorian in his graduating class at Montcalm High School. At BSC, he is actively involved in the unmanned vehicle project at the College, and he is student leader of developing and applying the vehicle’s global positioning system.
The award was established in honor of Professor Dalton, who taught mathematics to Engineering Technology and Computer Science students at BSC for more than 20 years. Frank Hart, Dean/School of Engineering Technology and Computer Science at BSC, noted, "Professor Dalton was consistently recognized for being able to reach a broad cross-section of freshmen in mathematics. Graduates frequently attest to how Professor Dalton made a difference in their success in college."
This year’s Dalton Award recipient is the son of Bobby and Karen Duncan.
