BSC's Engineering Technology Olympic Games
Test Students Academic and Athletic Skills
(Bluefield)—Students in the Bluefield State College School of Engineering Technology already understood that the School’s academic requirements are demanding, but they found recently that the experience can be a lot of fun, as well. More than 100 area students, primarily from BSC, took part in the 18 th annual Engineering Technology Olympics at the Bluefield City Park.
The event combined academic and athletic competition, with students participating in categories that include balsa wood bridge building, a great boat race, concrete cylinder toss, digital logic, basketball, softball, tug-of-war, field math, horseshoes, beach volleyball, and more. A midday cookout was included, as well.
“Through the Engineering Technology Olympics, our students can relax, enjoy the competition, and see their faculty in an outside-the-classroom setting,” observed Frank Hart, Dean of the BSC School of Engineering Technology. “It’s a highlight of our semester every spring.
