BSC’s General Registration
Summer andFirst Summer Session
Classes Begin on May 29
(Bluefield)—Summer School at Bluefield State College – the preferred terms for course work for many college students – will begin with day and evening classes on Tuesday, May 29, 2007. “The relaxed atmosphere found on many college campuses during the summer – including at BSC – often attracts recent high school graduates who want to ‘try-on’ college courses, as well as adults who want to begin, or return to, their college education,” observed Dr. Don Smith, BSC’s Vice President for Academic Affairs. “For many such students, the opportunity to interact with the College’s professors and with regularly enrolled students attending for the summer helps them to gauge the campus environment and determine if regular enrollment is the right decision for them.”
Over the period of two consecutive five-week terms, and a concurrent ten-week term, BSC will offer day or evening courses in 23 different subject areas, with credits applicable to most of the College’s 30+ majors and programs of study. While most summer classes will meet, as scheduled, in classroom and/or laboratory settings, many of the courses may be taken via computer, Smith added. For students returning home for the summer from other institutions, BSC summer courses may be taken for transfer back to their home colleges or universities.
For more information relating to summer admission or course registration, current and prospective students are invited access the BSC website – www.bluefieldstate.edu – or to call the College’s Office of Admissions at 327-4066, or Office of the Registrar at 327-4060.
General registration for the second summer session will be conducted on July 2, with classes beginning the same day. The final day for registration and fee payment/second summer session, is July 6.
