Dr. Tom Blevins Re-elected
as Chair of the Association for
Educational Communications and
Technology’s Accreditation Committee

Dr. Tom Blevins(Bluefield)—Dr. Tom Blevins has been re-elected Chair of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology’s (AECT’s) Accreditation Committee.   As national chair, he arranged and chaired the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) Specialty Professional Association (SPA) training for association folio reviewers conducted by NCATE staff.  Blevins, who chaired the Accreditation Committee meeting held at the conference, was also re-appointed to membership on AECT’s Standards Committee and is collaborating with other team members to rewrite AECT’s national program recognition standards for submission to NCATE in 2009.
He also serves as a program reviewer for AECT and is currently serving as lead program reviewer for an eastern university's bid for national program recognition by AECT of its  master's and doctoral programs in  instructional technology.  He recently returned to BSC after attending AECT’s national conference in Anaheim, CA. 

In addition, Dr. Blevins, who is an NCATE Board of Examiner's member and chair, also chaired an NCATE visit to Huntington University, Huntington, IN.

Dr. Blevins is also a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association.  He will serve on an NCA focus visit to William Jewell College near Kansas City, MO next week.  He is the Dean of the Virtual College and Information Technology and the School of Teacher Education, and a Professor of English and Education at BSC and also serves as Director of Instructional Technology Planning and Coordination with the WV Higher Education Policy Commission.
