(Bluefield)—The Branch Banking and Trust (BB&T) West Virginia Foundation recently awarded the Bluefield State College Research and Development Corporation (BSC R&D) a grant for continuing operations at the Bluefield Technology Transfer Center.
Larry Ratliff, City Executive for BB&T, presented a check for $5,000 to Gerald James, BSC R&D Business Development Director, on September 17. The goal of this award is to fund partial operations of the Technology Transfer Center in Bluefield to allow for the continued operations of the facility as a resource center to small businesses, providing low-cost offices for new business ventures, helping established businesses grow, and supporting the needs of the general public.
“With the assistance of the BB&T, West Virginia Foundation, the Bluefield State College Research and Development Corporation can continue to provide a center to accommodate training events, provide technology resources and business advisors in a facility that is centrally located and equipped with high speed fiber optic communications that create a ‘technological’ business base for the surrounding communities,” noted Gerald James, the BSC R&D Corporation’s Business Development Director.
