(Bluefield)—Members of the Bluefield State College Radiologic Technology “Class of 2008” were recognized during a pinning ceremony recently at the College. Greetings and congratulatory comments were extended to the graduates by Dr. Albert Walker, BSC President, and Dr. Don Smith, BSC Vice President for Academic Affairs/Provost.
This year’s BSC RadTech graduates include: Jeffrey Anderson, Kimberly Bailey, Matthew Baldwin, Jarrid Basham, Terra Boggs, Allison Beller, Leisa Brewer, Stephanie Browning, Angela Ellison, Ronald Goodman, Courtney Hunt, Jan Hypes, Amanda Martin, Angela Massaro, Kacey McKinney, Jonas Peters, Deborah Presley, Shannon Pritt, Jacob Siers, Joshua Siers, Crystal Spicer and Michael Zinnen.
This year’s outstanding clinical award was received by Stephanie Browning and the outstanding academic award was presented to Angela Ellison. The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), Certificates of Excellence determined by the faculty to be the students who most fit the description of the professional and ethical technologist were awarded to Leisa Brewer and Ronald Goodman. Lambda Nu National Radiologic Technology Honor Society inductees included: Leisa Brewer, Angela Ellison, Ronald Goodman, Deborah Presley, and Michael Zinnen.
Faculty include: Melissa Haye (program director), Angela Lambert (clinical coordinator), Vanessa Godfrey (didactic instructor), Amy Bennett (clinical instructor/Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital), Jennifer Shelton (clinical instructor/Beckley VA Medical Center), Richard Gibson (clinical instructor/Bluefield Regional Medical Center), and Robin Gibson (clinical instructor/Princeton Community Hospital.
The BSC RadTech program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology, having received official notification that it had been awarded continuing national accreditation of eight (8) years in October, 2001. JRCERT is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as the national agency for the accreditation of educational programs for the radiographer and radiation therapist, and is responsible for all accreditation actions.
